May Be Leaving Tumblr Due To ‘Like’ Spam

Just a heads up to anyone who’s following me here on Tumblr.  I may be ditching my Tumblr account as a result of the massive, massive amount of “like” spam that I’m receiving here.

We have no tools to counter the problem, and I’ve been reading complaints about the issue that dates back several months.  Clearly, Tumblr themselves haven’t seen fit to do anything about it, nor to introduce tools for us to do anything about it.  Blocking and reporting the spammers is doing no good at all what so ever.

Tumblr’s complacency on this issue is just down right frustrating.  If I could remove the “like” button from my blog, I would do that in a heart beat.

edit:

Thanks for the responses. :)  I may avoid tagging my existing posts, but my older posts are still hanging out there.

Here’s what I think is happening:  These bots appear to be running a simple script.  The bot signs into the Tumblr account, searches for keywords, and “likes” posts from there.  Apparently the bots never hit my blog (or others) since they can operate entirely from within their Tumblr control panel.

Since they never load my domain name this allows them to avoid the protection that’s being offered through CloudFlare.  Even still, since adding CloudFlare the other day, six potential bots were stopped and one verified spamming bot was stopped.
