    Thoughts & Comments:

    Today’s run was great.  First of all, I set 4 new records to beat later:

    • Distance record: 2.9 miles (4.66 kilometers)
    • Average Pace: 13:48 mins / mi
    • Duration: 40 minutes
    • Calories Burned: 440.8

    I was kicking buttocks in today’s run, at least for a mildly asthmatic beginner.  My average pace for the first 20 minutes was 13:13 mins / mi.  I was quite pleased with that.  Eventually, the first parts of me that began to fatigue were my calves and the muscles around my ankles.  Of all strange things, right?

    Near the end of the run I had to do a lot of brisk-ish walking (as much as I could), and in order to maintain a 13:xx mins / mi average I decided to do a very fatigued form of interval jogging.  It kept me moving faster and burning more calories than I would have been able to accomplish by simply pushing to failure.  Let’s be honest, “failure” was close at that point.

    My lower back did begin to get sore during today’s run, but it wasn’t bad.  Just a little annoying.  I began to experiment with landing on the toes of my feet rather than my heels, but that just feels weird as hell.  It did help my back a bit, though, so I maintained the strangeness for a couple of minutes.

    I did choose to use the inhaler once during today’s workout.

    Today’s planned duration was 45 minutes, of which I ended up doing 40 minutes.  This was due to another slight miscalculation in the amount of time that it takes to travel (by foot) between home and the location at which I do my training.

    After today’s workout, I’m not exaggerating, I had been sweating so much that I looked like I had just got out of the swimming pool.  I saw myself in the mirror and had to raise an eyebrow at it.  440.8 calories indeed!

    Final thoughts on today’s run:  I’m very pleased with it.  An approximate 440.8 calories is a very good calorie burn, and I am feeling pretty awesome that I was actually able to maintain a jog for roughly 30 minutes straight.  That’s down right impressive considering what I’m working with, and I began today’s workout thinking that there was absolutely no way that I could do it.  Yet I did, plus the run went very smooth over all.

    I’m a happy camper.

    I earned 78 points for my workout on Fitocracy!

      • 0:19:57.1 || 1.4 mi || 14:12.1 min/mi || flat (+78 pts)
      • http://runkeeper.com/user/90541518/activity/181518897 . Today’s schedule distance was 1.5 miles. I slightly miscalculated the distance of the location that I run in and went 1.4 miles .

    Thoughts & Comments:

    Today’s run was a little… interesting?  Running outside brings some unexpected external issues, and I had to use the pause button a couple of times.

    The first time was at a house where it sound like there was a potential domestic issue.  I listened for a few minutes to determine if I should call the cops or not, but I think that it was your basic sibling stuff.

    The second time was in the park where there was someone walking their dog, so I paused for a moment to determine if the dog would get excited because someone ran passed them.

    Other than those two issues, I managed to actually lightly jog the majority of the 1.4 miles.  That frankly surprised me.  When set out I didn’t expect to be able to do most of it, but I decided that I would do as much as I could.  Today was pleasantly surprising.  I jogged almost non-stop for the entire duration, with the only exceptions being those two moments.

    Oh, and I did stop briefly a third time as someone asked me if I had seen their dog, and I told them that I would try to get the dog back to their house if I saw her at the park.  I didn’t pause RunKeeper for that, though.  I also didn’t see the dog, but I looked around the park as I jogged around it.

    Lastly, I managed to set a new PR, which surprised me quite a bit.  I don’t know how RunKeeper handles the pause, but I attempted to keep everything as accurate as possible.  Today’s pace was 14:12 min/mi over 1.4 miles, besting my previous PR of 14:24 min/mi over 1.9 miles.

      • P90X: Back & Biceps. “Moderate” since I had to stop several times to check on a sick family member.

    Thoughts & Comments:

    The weight that I use for lawnmowers is too easy, yet I use the same dumbbell for other lifts.  I’m not sure if it’s yet worth the time to swap the plates out each time since it works fine as-is in everything except for lawnmowers.

    Also:  DING! lvl 22. :p

P90X: Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps. I’ve rated this at maximum intensity because I increased the weights in two or three lifts in addition to increasing the intensity in some of the push-up routines. I could barely hit 7 reps in one of the lifts, pushed myself until I was unable to go beyond half way in some of the push-up routines, and did some (sloppy) one armed push-ups for the first time ever. Good times.

    P90X: Chest, Shoulders, & Triceps. I’ve rated this at maximum intensity because I increased the weights in two or three lifts in addition to increasing the intensity in some of the push-up routines. I could barely hit 7 reps in one of the lifts, pushed myself until I was unable to go beyond half way in some of the push-up routines, and did some (sloppy) one armed push-ups for the first time ever. Good times.

      • P90X: Kenpo X. I make the exercise more intense by turning the fast (with sound) “doubles” (eg; punch and drag) into plyometric moves. Ex: Bounce forward, do the double strike, and immediately bounce back. Repeat for all doubles.

  • I’ve been so damn lazy this week.  I’ve missed two days of exercises (Tuesday and Yesterday’s).  Sometimes it’s difficult to keep yourself in check and to keep going, even when you’ve seen some real progress.

    Granted, I plan to do yesterday’s exercise today after I’ve eaten enough to fuel the exercise, so that will be just one missed day.  That doesn’t change how lazy I’ve been this week, though.

    Next week promises to be tough.  Running is so damn difficult for me.  Exercising inside is one thing, but it’s completely different to trying to jog or run outside.  The humidity, the temperature, it all plays very poorly with asthma even when it’s “mild”.

    Oh, well.  Anyway I’m off to put on more food so that I can do said exercise today.

I think sometimes people want instant results in losing weight. Though tbh it really doesn’t work that way. Last year when i started training, I woke up almost every morning at 6 to get to training at 7 and then had school right after. Did I like waking up in the morning, not really. Do I still like waking up early? no not really. It’s a really long road sometimes, but i think it’ll defs be worth it someday! keep at it with whatever your doing and if you ever need some encouragement or just to talk about training, ash and i are here for you!

You have such a great attitude! I see the desire for instant results a lot. I swear that people’s eyes glaze over when you start to tell them that losing the extra pounds doesn’t work like that, let alone that they’ll have to eventually ignore the scale. It’s always refreshing to see someone with a realistic attitude.
